Coin Jewelry value?

How are coin rings and pendants evaluated for worth? Is it by the metal content and weight, the age of the coin or the condition?

There are a LOT of things to consider when evaluating coin rings and jewelry. Condition of the coin, age of the coin, rarity of the coin, how the coin was set into the jewelry as well as the actual gold content.

Valuing coin jewelry is about the same process as valuing any other piece of jewelry. First it is necessary to decide what the important characteristics of the item are. This may include the type, age and wear on the coin(s), it may include the craftsmanship and materials of the piece, it may include designer to ownership history and even the packaging. It's usually important to decide if the coin is genuine for example. Next, it?s necessary to select an appropriate market. This can range from the cost of comparable new items at a particular retail jewelry store to the salvage of the materials at the refiner. The selection will affect both the prices and which attributes are most important in the value decision so this choice can be terribly important. Making this decision wisely is one of the keys makes a professional appraiser.

Yes but, the coin is still considered Jewelry Quality isn't it, as it's circulated ? I for one have never seen a collectible grade coin in any piece of jewelry.
