Can anyone recomend a good book for the average person (not a professional, easy to understand :o ) for a person who wants to learn a bit more about jewelry and diamonds?

This book may be a little bit advanced but it is my favorite aside from my GIA course books. I think it covers a very wide range of gemstones and has lots of good color pictures.

Gemstones of the World by Walter Schumann

"Diamonds" by Eric Bruton F.G.A is a really interesting read. It does tend to get a bit into detail but the reader will get a very good understanding of the diamond industry.

It's one of my favorite books.
