Is there really such a thing? How does it get green and where is it from? Is it more durable than regular gold?

Found a really nice picture of Rose Gold. This has a really soft look to it, very cashmere sweater, cuddly type look to it!

If you like the look of modern rose gold, you'll love the look of old (English) 9ct yellow gold - if you can get it. Years ago, 9ct gold was considered rather inferior and, because it had a much redder colour than 18ct, was very easy to spot. Now days, 9ct has a much "better" colour (not so obviously 9ct) and because its much cheaper, has become quite popular. This has made the old stuff quite rare and, because of its subtle colour (not as brash as rose gold), quite desirable.
I keep a small stock of it that I can use to repair old jewellery.

I bet the off color gold rings are higher in price too.

The only time I have ever seen green gold, it was on Black Hills Gold Jewelry.

Found a nice picture of black hills gold. Did you know that it is the state Jewelry of South Dakota.

Found this on www.state.sd.us/ state/sdsym.htm

"Black Hills gold, the state jewelry, is created and manufactured exclusively in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Each design incorporates the traditional motif of grapes and leaves in tri-color combinations of green, rose and yellow gold."

And this from blackhillsg0ld.com/ blackhillsg0ld/G/WGS909.shtml

"Black Hills Gold jewelry begins with pure 24 Karat gold. It is then processed for a more durable, truly unique and beautiful, handcrafted karat combination of quality of 10K, 12K and 14K jewelry. Black Hills Gold was discovered in 1874 along French Creek in the central Black Hills. One of the last great North American gold rushes inevitably followed and settlement of the region increased dramatically. The city of Deadwood grew out of this Wild West era of prospectors, saloons, and legendary figures like Wild Bill Hickock, Wyatt Earp, Frank and Jesse James, Billy the Kid, and Calamity Jane. In the 1980's a federal judge ruled that if a manufacturer was to call its jewelry Black Hills Gold, then it must be made in the Black Hills and it has the unique ~ Black Hills ~ traditional design comprised of pink and lime gold leaves, grape clusters and vines."

I've a large heavy 9k rose gold simple band ring, first rose gold I owned.
IMHO I think it looks too much like copper piping when used for large areas. It's nicer as a chain or as shown in the ring shown above.
