I also saw mystic Topaz. The price was very low. Is it a strong stone for a ring or should it be used as a pendant? Is it a real stone?

Hi Kelly,
The topaz used in Mystic Topaz is natural. However, while the table and crown (top) of the stone are natural, the coating is on the pavilion (bottom) of the stone. The process called Physical Vapor Deposition is applied to natural topaz and it is not a very stable process. The treated area is micron thin, not a thick coating. The name Mystic Topaz is just one of many names used for this process. The colors vary also.
I saw a company selling 100 cts. for 299.00 on a website. I would recommend wearing it in a pendant or earrings...not very durable for a ring.
Special cleaning care is needed also.

Thanks for the rapid answer Jeff!
How should a mystic topaz be cleaned?

Sorry Jeff,
I think I answered that question while talking about a similar question Kelly asked above in reference to Imperial Topaz, or Precious Topaz. If I would have read this post first I would have not answered as you had already explained it.
My aoplogies,
AC
Great Caution should be take with a Stone that Has a coating so thin it can be wiped out by a Polishing - THis Stone was Originally a lowly White Topaz and will go back to being one unless treated very Gently
