NCDIA Launches Consumer Website for Natural Color Diamonds
(November 1, '06, 6:09 Joseph V. Kuca)
Sam Merksamer, executive director of the Natural Color Diamond Association (NCDIA), announced the launch of the association’s new website Tuesday. “We expect www.NCDIA.com to be the number one consumer resource for information on natural color diamonds,” said Merksamer.
The development of the website reflects growing interest in natural color diamonds. The NCDIA's research suggests that consumers seek out information before they buy jewelry, usually on the Internet, and then look for reputable retailers to make a purchase.
The site's Buyer’s Guide, Retail Locator and Design Gallery provides consumers with easy access to information about natural color diamonds, while allowing them to "window shop" for natural color diamond jewelry and learn how and where to purchase them.
Frequently asked questions about natural color diamonds are answered on the site's Buyer's Guide, including rarity, origin of color, value, affordability, and authenticity. The site has been designed for easy navigation and the entire site is searchable by color category so that users can either delve directly into the color of their choice, or search for general information. Since NCDIA's research has shown that most people have a color in mind before they start, each section is linked together by color category.
The site helps consumers to ‘close the circle’ on their potential purchase through either the Retail Locater or contact information provided in the Design Gallery. All stores in the Retail Locator and manufacturers in the Design Gallery are members of the NCDIA.
The website design reflects the extensive research of the Consumers Perception of Natural Color Diamonds study commissioned by the NCDIA and carried out by SRI Research.
Merksamer concluded that, “the newly designed web site is only one segment of the overall, two-prong NCDIA strategy to provide education for the consumer and marketing support for the trade that will help the natural color diamond business.”
