Cut

The cut of the diamond refers to it's overall proportions, as well as the size and placement of its facets. The consistency and balance of these can affect how the stone captures light and reflects it back to the eye.

Diameter: The width of the diamond as measured through the girdle.

Table: The flat top and largest facet of a diamond.

Crown: The top portion of a diamond extending from the girdle to the table.

Girdle: The narrow band around the widest part of a diamond.

Pavilion: The bottom portion of a diamond, extending from the girdle to the point of the stone.

Culet: The facet at the tip of a diamond.

Depth: The height of a diamond measured from the culet to the table.
