I recently purchased a ring, inside the inscription reads 14 KT. This isn't gold filled or electroplate is it?

The engraved 14kt is the karat of gold. Pure gold is 24kt and the pure gold is mixed with metal alloys to give it it's color and also strenghthen it.
14kt means there were 14 parts of pure gold mixed with 10 parts of metal alloy. 14kt is also stamped 585 in some jewelry meaning the pure gold is 58.5% of the item with the other percentage left being the metal alloys.
