At my grandmothers house and I was hoping to get some info if any about it. The ring was givin to my great grandmother by Benito Mussolini in the year 1935, the country requested that all woman give up their gold wedding bands to be melted down for WWII funds or weapons(not sure) and in return they received some cheap steel or silver ring with the words "Oro al la patria" 8-15-35 enscibed into the underside of the ring which reads, "Gold for the Country or Homeland" any other info would be great and or the rarity of this ring, thank you very much. That's a very interesting story on that ring.
I would imagine it's worth a lot to a collector.

'Giornata della fede' [Day of the Wedding Ring]

December 18, 1935

The nation needs gold: all the women give their golden wedding ring to the Party (250.000 rings in Rome, 180.000 in Milan) and get a steel replica from the Party. On the whole 33.622 kgs of gold are collected.
