This would seem to go against human nature so much that I have to ask.
Recently caught a new ad for one of the 'exchange' style stores, where they claim that the winner of an "Extreme Makeover" TV show turned down a free diamond ring (valued apparently at over $10k) in favor of buying a $3k ring from the store who runs the ad.
Coming at this thing cold, my gut instantly calls BS.
Does anyone know or have any background on this thing? Is my gut wrong?
Are these folks for real--giving up a $10k+ freebie to make a purchase of $3k?
