I am trying to find out some ideal on a price for a radiant cut diamond.
I dont have the measurments but the diamond is 1.56 in carat weight. SI3-I1 in clarity. The color had a SLIGHT color of yellow to it in certain light. The color is J-K. It appears like a 2 carat...its large!
I know it may be hard to give a price but if i could just get some idea, it would sure help.

Thanks, Pam

What market level? I believe you said you're dealing with a jeweler, who is willing to take a diamond in?

...... oh yeah, and the measurements are CRUTIAL or it's gonna be an awfully big ballpark.

Right now I'm estimating anywhere from $3000 to $19000

Big ol' ballpark

Another question. Is this a reputable jewler, who's been in business for years? If so, then chances are the diamond you're looking at is fairly priced. Remember, businesses don't stay in business long these days by ripping people off.

Its an individual that buys and sales diamonds. The stone is 1.56 ct , J in color and I1 clarity.

Oh yes. The individuals who buy and sell diamonds on the side. There's a few of these guys even right here in Knoxville!

Therefore, market value should be 3A or 4B and thats all I will say. Perhaps look up completed auctions on eBay for some kind of "idea" of what it's worth. And note, "buy it now" items that never got any bids is going to be as relavent as a gnat on an elephant's butt with rape on it's mind.

Want a little advice? A diamond this large should be graded by a qualified member of the TRADE in my opinion. Either have him get it graded by a major trade lab or get in writing after you send it off you can get a full refund if his "grades" are more than 1 grade away from a qualified grade.

I doubt you're going to get a suggested FMV online and it's not because I don't want to help you. Seen way too many times where a diamond purchased "from this guy I know who sells diamonds on the side" ends up being lazer drilled and/or fracture filled, or FAR from accurate in it's grading.

Granted, grades are opinions and we all got one. Perhaps you should ask to see this diamond loose in daylight equivilent, upside down on a white tray and perhaps even put the one you already have next to it and come up with your own grade. Believe me when I say, yours will be just as relevant as his.

Sorry Pammie, but I'm backing out of this one now! Only reason is I really do try to help anyone, and believe it or not, I'm chosing now to not hurt you instead of possibly hoping to help you. Good luck!!
