Can someone tell me which would be the best decision. I am so undecided. I have a .98 marquise solitaire. Its like SI2 clarity and H color. It just appears small. I have had it taken out of the mounting and weighed so i know its a .98.
I have a chance to trade it for a 1.24 EGL certified round stone. This diamond is graded as I1 and H color. I love the bigger look but i dont know if its worth trading. Can someone PLEASE give me your opinion, as to what you would do. :)
This round stone does a visible feather near the prong...eye visible but the diamond still have good sparkle.

Hi Pamie,
Marquises were once the hottest selling fancy shape. These days you cannot give them away, princess cuts and rounds are leading the pack.
You say the diamond you are considering is certified by the EGL, is it the EGL in the USA, Israel, Belgium, Thailand, South Africa or Turkey? I have to warn you that they are all owned separately and the grading from MANY of the overseas labs is less than accurate.
If the diamond you are going to trade for is actually a nice H I1 it sounds like you are getting a great deal. If it is an I I2 you are not.
Dealing with a seller you trust is always your best defense, if you let me know what town you are in I can refer you to some reputable local jewelers.

I vote for bigger. It seems in your heart your a bit disappointed with your current diamond. The larger size for a bit lower clarity may be a good option.

 Well here i am again lol. I talked with the lady again that said she would trade me the 1.24 round certified stone for my .98 certified stone.
She said she just wants me to realize that the larger stone is not as nice as mine. She said i got an exceptional deal on the ring i have due to an individual needing money.
I just dont know what to do. I cant get the thought of having the 1.24 carat round out of my mine. I just wish i know how much larger an actual 1.24 round brilliant would appear to a .98 marquise cut.
Also i was kinda surprised to learn on here that a marquise is not very popular anymore...i appreciate all the information and opinions you all can offer to me.
thanks :)

Get the measurements of both stones, take out a ruler and draw them to scale on a piece of paper.
Not the best solution but it will help.
