What is the best metal for a ring with invisible set diamonds? I heard that these cannot be resized...... should I buy one that comes in my size already?

Invisible set rings can be resized, but not very much, and it's never easy.. And, it usually ends up not being round anymore.. The diamond girdles are cut much like a tongue and groove system where each diamond holds onto the ones around it.. Changing th ealignment of the diamonds can have very bad results..
So yes, if you can, it is always best to buy the ring in your size.. Or at worst, within a 1/2 size so that any sizing can be cheated with a ring guard or even enlarging the finger hole slightly.. But these are not the best was to do this..

Many of the manufacturers of invisible set rings offer a warranty on their work and I encourage you to buy from one of the ones who do this. As Feydakin points out, sizing can be difficult and it's worth noting that it will void the warranty with the manufacturers if you have someone other than them do the work. This usually even includes the bench jeweler at the store where you buy it. It may be worth your trouble to have them send it back to the manufacturer for sizing.
