We were looking at diamond at the mall and I read here that SI2 should not have any visible stuff in it.
The lady showed me a pair of .90 earrings they said were certified SI2 but I could see black spots in it easily.
Isn't it illegal to lie about quality?

Who was it certified by?
The mall stores are notorious for selling overpriced, misgraded diamonds.
The "diamond expert" you are working with there was a "shoe expert" in the same mall a few months earlier.

Many of the mall jewelry stores salespeople are under the impression that if an item is "certified" that it must be good quality. The consumer might believe the same. Not true. Anyone can "certify" anything. Don't get me started on the word "certified." Many stores are using "certificates" to sell imperfect quality diamonds. Buyer beware, as usual. A laminated card with a nice picture is not a reason to be confident of quality. Ask tough questions and if the answers don't make sense to you, walk away!
